Update

December 10, 2011 Brought to you by Oceanic Preservation Society

The Empire Strikes Back

Our friends in New York get a firsthand look this remarkable sight. Through the weekend, the world's most iconic tower glows red in support of The Cove. Ric O Barry, actor John Leguizamo, race car driver Leilani Munter and Louie Psihoyos were on hand for this special visual reminder of the dolphins in Japan.

Traditionally, the 102-story tower lights up in honor of holidays, heroes and local sports teams. When the building's owner watched The Cove this summer, he vowed to created a visual tribute.

Big thanks to all involved.

Fresh Wind Coming

We got the call a few weeks ago. A long freight train had been spotted by our soundman Mickey Houlihan heading north through Boulder.  Louie grabbed a camera, crew members Mike and Adrienne, and dashed out the door.

As far as the eye could see, flatbeds were loaded with wind turbine propellors. Bound for Wyoming where the plains winds provide a consistent, strong energy resource, it was a vision of hope. With nearly 7,900 MW of new wind projects planned, Wyoming will soon be offering refreshingly clean alternatives to fossil fuel.

Energy use has always been a focus here at OPS. We welcome the adaption of sustainable practices.

The image was captured, it says much about optomism and planning for the future. That's what we like to see. And share.

Another Year Wraps

As 2010 wraps (that went fast, didn't it?) we again want thank our many supporters.

We pride ourselves on maintaining a low overhead, yet a high response rate to the many thousands of emails we recieve. From Panama to South Africa, people write to us expressing their gratitude, they share our passion, they want to know more about what they can do. Students start Cove Clubs at their schools. Many are inspired to alter their life course, to help animals, study marine biology or a focus on the environmental. Keep them coming, we love it.

Looking ahead, we plan to continue bringing important issues to light.

We would like to remind you of our mission, and how you can help. Every dollar goes directly to the work that we do.

So this year for the holidays, why not consider:

Whatever you co, it helps. We are most grateful.

Blessings to All.
